My Journey…

Why I love what I do…

I love to help people. It’s my passion to help people to become the best they can be in all aspects of health. I take their goals and dreams as my own, and I do not give up until we get there. I see people as what they will become, not what they are now. I meet them where they are physically while pushing them to grow. I have learned that there is no one way or path to achieve your goals. Often times, we are knocked down or redirected, but the only thing that matters is that you get back up and finish what you’ve started. The only time you are truly defeated is when you give up. My goal is to never leave you feeling defeated, but instead motivated and challenged in different ways to get you back on track. I take great pride in being the person who gets to witness you reaching your goals because as your partner in this journey, I get to reach those goals with you.

How I got here…

As I reflect on how I reached this point in my life, I must say it wasn’t any one thing that made me who I am today. It has been truly an evolution. I feel that I have grown and evolved into a fulfilled and complete person; a wife, a mother and a fitness trainer. I make a point to take in all that I have seen, heard, learned and experienced. It has made me a better human being and a more compassionate trainer and health coach.

I wasn’t an athlete in high school or college and I never focused on any one sport. However, I learned at a very young age that exercise was a way for me to deal with “me”. While in high school, I would drive to the local gym to run, bike or lift which, I recognize in hindsight, helped me cope and deal with any anxious tendencies.

While in college, I chose a degree in physical fitness and truly felt a connection to the content, people and direction it was leading me. I started off at Columbus State Community College and within a few years, I completed an Associate’s Degree in Sport and Fitness Management. I met so many great people along the way, all of whom helped influence my decision to pursue my Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. I am forever indebted to those who believed in me and saw my potential.

When I entered the work force, I started as a health and physical education teacher and loved my opportunities to work with children. As my personal life evolved, so did my career path. My calling to refocus myself as a personal trainer and health coach came to fruition when my husband and I moved to North Carolina in 2005.

I have had the pleasure of training and educating countless people since then, and have continued to learn more about “how” and “why” the body works and moves. This invaluable information allows me to help each client understand their body and help them to become an expert on themselves. The most powerful thing I have learned as a trainer is that people’s outward appearance is often a results of an inward thought or feeling of themselves. Many of my clients are not fighting pounds; instead, they are fighting words. My goal is to help bring balance to my clients overall physical and mental health, all while building confidence in themselves. I’m excited that this next phase of my journey will provide me an opportunity to extend my reach.
